And here goes nothing…its starts!
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
I awoke to amazing sunshine this Sunday morning. The bone chill cold and the greyness that hung upon the city these past days have lifted. My little studio starts to feel less like a temporary living space and more like a home. I stocked up with groceries and I get pretty serious at the supermarket. I cut up all my fresh veggies and bag and freeze them – yeah, I know, who on earth does that – well, me. It starts to feel like home.
Yesterday, the group of us went to a rugby match – to watch the Lions against the Sharks, both are South African teams, the former the home team and the latter from Durban. It was an excellent match, or as excellent as I could tell from the squat I know about rugby. It was close match and there were a couple of tries scored right in front of me, almost in testosterone smelling zone, so it was all pretty impressive. These rugby players are just massive – massive chests, massive legs, just generally extra large humans. More interestingly was probably the number of white people I saw at the stadium. There were A LOT of white people. Around where I live, I don’t really see white people. I really still don’t know where these white people come from actually. Just to sidetrack, South Africa does have a white population – a whole 9.2% of them. And they speak Afrikaans, which to me sound like Dutch with an Australian accent, and I don’t get any of it. But back to the white people at the stadium, rugby is apparently still quite a white sport, alongside cricket. And I see the divide.

Tomorrow I start my first day of work. I’m expectant though I don’t really know what to expect and excited even though I don’t quite know what aspect of what I’m going to expect I’ll be excited about. And on that evidently clear note, I’m signing off.
I still love your writing expression! Enjoy!
